In Chapter 3 there were many diagrams, mostly diagrams of maps that showed the Persian Empire, Classical Greece, and Alexander's Empire and Succesor States, etc. I found the map on Alexander's Empire and Successor States was interesting but I found the diagram on page 116 of Alexander the Great more interestin because it was an actual mosaic of Alexander the Great. It was Alexander on the back of a horse and in the caption of the diagram it said Alexander came from the city of Pompeii. I thought it was really interesting though because I would not have thought it depicted the Battle of Issus which was in 333 B.C.E. From readings, and obviously the caption, in the Battle of Issus the Greeks defeated the Persian Army but I always figured because the Greek army was more grand. What I did learn was that it was lead by Emperor Darius III and Alexander the Great was his successor.

BLOG #5: INTRO TO PART TWO AND CHAPTER 3 (STATE AND EMPIRE)
To kick off Chapter 3 on page 107, we start to read about The Persians and The Greeks. Starting with the Persian Empire, I have heard about the Persian Empire multiple times throughout both high school and middle school but did not pay attention because I was an ignorant child and not mature in the head lol, was considered which I knew as one of the largest empires, but I definately did not know they were "the most impressive" like wow, such a high standard being set for the beginning of the chapter lol. I also learned that when their king died the Persians were expected shave their hair "in mourning" meaning basically deep sarrow. I found this not really weird, because my culture back home is weird, but very foreign. Like I could just cry for their loyalty to shave off their hair, THATS A WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL *crying emoji* ....anyways, moving on from the amazing, amazing persians the Chapter also kicked off with the Greeks, which when we hear Greeks we all think about Classical Greek and so to say Classical Greeces fame emerged in around 750 B.C.E, which I have heard in class but still act like its something new to me lol. I find a lot of interest in learning about Greece because of Greek Mythology. On page 110 of the chapter, right at the kick off of the Greeks, Zeus and Apollo which immediately grabbed my attention. But of course, from my experience, everytime Zeus and Apollo are brought up, war is brought up too lol. The paragraph basically ended with "the civilization of Athens and Sparta, of Plato and Aristotle, of Zeus and Apollo to shape and collided with its giant neighbor to the east". The beginning of the chapter basically talks about collisions between empires and civilizations, example being Alexander and Hellenistic Era where Alexander son of Philip lead a large expedition (of course of Greeks) against the Persian Empire. I have to say this Chapter was a lot more interesting to me because a lot of the material I know I have learned before and it was just more clarifying to me, but also who doesn't like reading about wars? Or even Greek Mythology?

BLOG #4: CHAPTER 2 DIAGRAMS
There were quite a few pictures and diagrams in Chapter two, on page 62 there was a picture of basically the world that showed First Civilizations. In the map of First Civilizations there were seven civilizations that developed in different locations around the world. Quoting the book all developed "within a few thousand years, from 3500 to 1000 B.C.E." (Strayer, 62). There were civilizations in the Andes mountains, near the Yucantan Peninsula, near the Euphraties River, near the Caspian Sea, near the Yellow River, near the Indus River, and in Lower egypt. All except one of these civilations developed near water, rivers to be specific, and I think that was cool because it was their water source which I am assuming. There was also a picture on page 66 of a bronze tiger. After reading the excerpt about the picture I learned that the bronze tiger was made around 1100 B.C.E. and that it was an artifact that showed the Chinese worked with bronze. I also learned that they believed that "the tiger was a messenger between heaven and the human world" (Snyder, 66). One picture that I came across in Chapter 2 that sounded familiar was Mohenjo Daro, I learned about it in middle school from what I do recall. So it only sounded familiar to me, after reading the excerpt about the picture of Mohenjo Daro I learned that it was "the largest cuty if the Indus Valley Civilization" (Snyder, 70) and that it flourished around 2000 B.C.E.

BLOG #3 - CHAPTER 2
In this Chapter I read that the earliest of civilizations because relevant in 3500 BCE to 3000 BCE in three places which were Middle Eastern Civilization. I also noticed that the Xin, Shang, and Zhou dynasties were mentioned and it reminded me of the little excerpts we were doing out Analysis Paper on, on Xinchen and Claudius and who is the better leader. I also learned that I did not know the definition of Patriarchal and after researching it I learned that it meant relating to or characteristic of a system or society or government controlled by men (shoutout to dictionary.com) which made more sense reading about the portion of the chapter dealing with what I assumed was reality versus Patriarchal Ideal, which also drove me crazy because WHY PUT IDEAL AFTER A WORD I DO NOT KNOW THE DEFINITION OF LOL NOW I HAVE TO STRESS ABOUT BOTH WORDS COMBINED LOL. When I usually come across words I do not know the definition of when I'm reading I usually just look up the word before I continue reading, and this really put me through the struggle. But besides that harsh, harsh (I'm being dramatic play along) struggle of Patriarchal Ideal I also found astounding that goddesses were not idolized at some point in time. Which I was slightly offended by, because hello?! ATHENA?! I am not a big person on being a feminisit, but this really did make me rethink it (once again, being dramatic). Welp, that is pretty much the things that popped out to me, blog again soon (:

BLOG #2: CHAPTER 1 (FIRST FARMERS) BREAKTHROUGHS TO AGRICULTURE TO END OF CHAPTER
After reading the second half of Chapter 1 and sitting through the discussion in class, I actually questioned my day with "How do I know who I can trust?" and it is crazy because we do crazily go around trusting so many different people everyday that surround us, whom we don't even know. We do have laws and rules and consequences in which I haven't found neat until today. I find it so neat how these restrictions keep society from being so chaotic, or at least not as chaotic. Also I found it crazy how agriculture didn't exist until neolithic era.

BLOG #1: WW PROLOGUE, INTRO TO PART ONE, CHAPTER 1 (FIRST PEOPLES)
After reading the first part of Chapter 1 (Out of Africa and The Ways we were) I learned alot about the Paleolithic area. I think what really stood out to me was the human migration which initially lead from Africa to the Middle East, then to Europe over to Asia, then Indonesia over to Australia, then from Australia into the Americas and the Pacific. It was just crazy how they migrated so far, although over a great period of time I still think it is pretty awesome. Also I learned that ancestors who lived in the Paliolithic Era had more freedom than any human society, in which I do understand but I didn't figure right off the top of my head when I started reading.
