BLOG #7: CHAPTER 4

Chapter 4 was interesting, i liked how it talked about culture and religion. I enjoyed reading about Confucius. I learned that people did not really see Confucianism as a religion and he was not actually a god, he was just highly praised. Also I learned that Socrates was executed because the society he lived in did not agree with him on how he was telling the millenials to question authority. I thought it was cool learning a little about philosophy in history because I do take a philosophy class and I find it interesting how here I learn the details about the philosophical teachers like Socrates and Plato in detail but in my philosophy class I only learn about how they think and their impact.

I like how Chapter 4 is based on Culture and Religion, but speicifically Eurasia and North Africa. I liked it because I have been learning about it in a lot of my other classes, so I felt like learning about the actual religion and culture would give me more of a flavor of it. I thought it was cool how they had both Legalists and Confucians. I did learn that legalists believed that the solution to China's problems lay in rules or laws that are clearly spelled out and strictly enforced through punishments and rewards. Kind of like America, but our President is Trump and he isn't much a reward. Just kidding lol. Well he really isn't.....anyways I have learned about Confucius before but I re-learned that his main point was that social harmony was through moral example, and he emphasized the importance of education. I also had no idea what Doaists were and I learned that
